Overcoming the Storms of Your Life
Life: You’ve got to love it or hate it. We all go through ups and downs; highs and lows, and no one is exempt from the trials and tribulations.
I remember once hearing on a Tyler Perry play, “In life we are going to have trouble, so why would you add more trouble onto the trouble that is already promised?” I couldn’t agree more.
The storms of life are challenges and depending on what kind of person you are, you can either rise to the challenge, which will only make you stronger; or you can get washed away. Yes, storms can be harsh and damaging, but after every storm, there is another Sunny day.
Going through a storm can make you start to think that it will never end or that someone out there is trying to get you. But that is not the case. We need the rain in order to have a rainbow. Always remember that you are never alone.
I won’t go into “convert mode” and try to make you believe anything that I believe, but I honestly feel that when you believe in GOD or a Higher Power, you have something to keep your Spirit going. I feel that prayer, meditation, and Faith are useful to overcome the storms that come into your life.
I also believe that when we go through something, it is selfish of us to think that it is all about us. What if the very thing that you are going through, you manage to come out on the other side as pure gold and then you can share your testimony to another human being who may be going through what you just came out of?
When I was younger, I never had a great relationship with my biological or step father. I was molested. I was in a very abusive relationship, and yet I still have so much love for men. Most women, in situations like mine, will have become bitter or sworn off men and started to become attracted to women. These are women that I like to talk to about what happened to me because they are going through the same thing that I have overcome. I used my test or my storms of life and created a Rainbow.
Whatever it is that you are facing today, I hope you believe in the person that looks at you from the mirror and keep faith in your strength that you will indeed overcome your storms. Who knows…maybe there’s a pot of gold at the end of your rainbow? Love, Live, Life!!!
